13. The
Prince of Wales
|
A mid-19th-century pub, named after the future Edward VII who used to visit Iffley when at Christchurch 1859-60. It has now spread across the site of its demolished neighbour, a bakery built in the same style. The green path south of the site was Baker's Lane, which gave access to a group of now-vanished cottages as well as to the bakehouse, where you could have your Sunday dinner cooked for three halfpence. |
