A memorial institute for the dead of the 1914-18 war stood here; founded as a cottage annexe and paid for by Sir George Forrest of Grove House, it was later housed in a separate building of green-painted corrugated iron. In 1961 the village school closed and its building became available for community use; the institute deteriorated and was in time demolished. |
